The Challenge

A sector under pressure — and a brand ready to respond.

Japan's trucking industry was facing a perfect storm: a shrinking workforce, tightening government regulations, and a deepening shortage of licensed drivers. At the same time, societal conversations around gender diversity and workplace inclusion were gaining momentum.

UD Trucks needed a new way to showcase its innovations, including automatic gearboxes and all-round disc brakes — not merely as engineering achievements, but as meaningful solutions to real human challenges.

The brief was clear: show how UD Trucks technology makes trucking more accessible, safer, and more appealing — especially to demographics traditionally underrepresented in the industry.

"Technology only matters when it changes lives. We wanted to show whose life it was changing — and why that mattered."

The Solution

A story that put a human face on innovation.

Rather than a conventional product demo or corporate testimonial, we created a narrative-led video series centred on a real character: a mother who is also a professional truck driver. Her story became the emotional anchor for UD Trucks' technical advancements — showing the tangible difference that smarter, more intuitive technology makes in an everyday working life.

The campaign reframed truck driving as a viable, empowering, and modern career path for women, challenging deeply ingrained stereotypes while positioning UD Trucks as a brand that actively shapes a more inclusive industry.
